Tucson Guitar Quarter performs at the Phoenix Guitar Society Guest Artist Series.

Founded in 2019, Tucson Guitar Quartet is led by driven performers, and educators.  Brought together by their devotion to chamber music, TGQ provides a unique experience because of their eclectic backgrounds, unconventional repertoire, and approach to Latin-American music. The members of the group are George Ramirez (Arizona), Alfredo Vazquez (Arizona), Michael Nigro (California), and José Luis Puerta (Puerto Rico).

Latin American Soundscapes (2020), is the quartet’s debut album. Recorded at the Haskell Recording Studio at the University of Arizona. The album emphasizes music revolving around traditional, folkloric, and contemporary Latin American themes. Featuring works  by Juan Morel Campos (Puerto Rico), Julio Cesar Oliva (México), Marcelo Coronel (Argentina), Leo Brouwer (Cuba), Sergio Assad (Brazil), and Edwin Guevara (Colombia).  Amongst the music recorded there are two World Premieres and performances attributed to the quartet:  An American in Bahia by  Brazilian composer and Grammy Winner Sergio Assad, and Costa-Tucson composed by Naxos recording artist Edwin Guevara.

TGQ has been invited to perform at the XI International Tucson Guitar Festival, V Festival de Guitarra Clásica Universidad Sergio Arboleda (Colombia),  Tohono Chul Concert Series, Tucson Guitar Society, ASA Concert Series, Stringing our Community Together Concert Series, Phoenix Guitar Society, Art Llobet Guitar Festival (Barcelona), Festival Internacional de Guitarra de Morelia (Mexico).

The Phoenix Guitar Society is a not-for profit charitable organization and we depend on your contributions to enable us to continue to bring you great classical guitar performances.

PGS is asking for a $10 donation at the door.
